Post The Pull-up Challenge!!!
OK ladies, get your wraps off & warm up your back. This challenge is to complete the correct number of pull-ups for your body-weight shown below in as few sets as possible. Report back with both the total time & total number of sets to complete your allotment of pull-ups.

Pull-up rules
Pull-ups are to be done with pronated grip (palms facing away) and using the wide end of the pull-up bar. The set begins when you take your weight on the bar and ends when you take it off - therefore it is allowable to pause/hold the bottom position for an unlimited amount of time within a given set (but like I say, no straps allowed ). You may attempt this challenge as often as you like, with better results replacing old ones in your standings.
Anyone who completes the requisite number of reps in a single set will be made a "Pull-up Knight of the Body Lifting/Grip Strength Training Forum" and have their name added to the "Knights of the Body Lifting/Grip Strength Training Forum" sticky. Gaining a Knighthood is a serious business and will require video or witness validation - make no mistake, this may be a small site but anyone who gets Knighted around here will have put in a world class show of strength to make it!
Lesser awards will be given on your route to a Knighthood, namely the title of "Pull-up Squire" for completion of the requisite number of reps in three sets or less, and "Pull-up Page" for completion of the requisite number of reps in six sets or less, as long as all sets are completed within 5 minutes (don't want anyone takin' the piss with their rest times!). You may think that being a 'Page' is a crappy title, but consider that until you get this you are a 'Pull-up Commoner' by default!

Pull-up guidelines
Since this is the internet I can't really enforce the following except for Knighthood attempts, but try to make these honest pull-ups by having a decent ROM and limited use of kipping (i.e. don't start kipping the very first one!).

Bodyweight v's Reps (MEN)
under 50kg: 60 reps
50kg - 55kg : 55 reps
55kg - 60kg : 50 reps
60kg - 65kg : 46 reps
65kg - 70kg : 43 reps
70kg - 75kg : 40 reps
75kg - 80kg : 38 reps
80kg - 85kg : 35 reps
85kg - 90kg : 33 reps
90kg - 95kg : 32 reps
95kg - 100kg : 30 reps
100kg - 105kg : 29 reps
105kg - 110kg : 27 reps
110kg - 115kg : 26 reps
115kg - 120kg : 25 reps
over 120kg : 24 reps

Bodyweight v's Reps (WOMEN)
under 50kg: 24 reps
50kg - 55kg : 22 reps
55kg - 60kg : 20 reps
60kg - 65kg : 18 reps
65kg - 70kg : 17 reps
70kg - 75kg : 16 reps
75kg - 80kg : 15 reps
80kg - 85kg : 14 reps
85kg - 95kg : 13 reps
95kg - 105kg : 12 reps
105kg - 110kg : 11 reps
over 110kg : 10 reps

I'm not going to be issuing guidelines for what time or number of sets you should be aiming for, but remember that this is an open competition so you want your numbers to stack up as well as possible beside everyone else's. Keep that in mind before you start your first set!

Now go!

Wide grip pull ups? I can't do those due to a damaged shoulder...

Do I get an exception??

Oh and fork the women's recommendation, I'm going for 50 pullups.

No wait, 60, because my Napoleoness complex is just that bad.

I will be the pull up champ here for sure. Sorry folks I will brag about pullups. Not much else but yes I can do a crap load without weights. I normally rep out with 2 45lb plates but if I have to do them without swweet game on.

This idea worked really well on the other forum before the forum kinda died, so I'm well up for this. Hell, I don't think training bodyweight only pullups for a few weeks is gonna do me any harm. ;)

What do you reckon, coma, exception for Winnie's a punk with her damaged shoulder? To be honest, I think we ended up doing ours at regular width even on the original challenge anyway. The rules kinda slackened as the challenge wore on.

Can we use our old numbers and update when we're into the endurance bit of the periodization?

Our routine? I'm cool with training chin-ups in their own way outside of the regular periodisation scheme. We certainly made a load of progress last time we did this, so I'm cool to repeat at see if we can get even more out of it.

I'll kick this off then. We had our first attempt today. I'm ~87kg so I fall into the 33 reps group. Results are:

18, 11, 4 in 4:08

Also I forgot to mention I don't see any problem with Winnie's a punk getting an exception on medical grounds, it's still not going to be easy! Besides, the more the merrier!
