Post Lets Talk Pizza..
Did you know that every day Americans consume nearly 1.9 ACRES of pizza? Or that every American, on average, eats 26 POUNDS of pizza annually? It's true. In America the Pizza has replaced the burger as the most popular fast food. So, seeing as how its so popular I thought we'd take a moment to discuss one of my favorite topic..

Here in Chicago Pizza is considered a staple, dare I say almost a way of life. To say we take our pizza seriously is akin to saying Godzilla's a big lizard - an understatement to be sure. Unlike New Yorkers, however, who favor a thin crust varying from an almost flatbread like, foldable crust to cracker-like in its crispiness, we here in Chicago prefer a heartier, thicker crust and we specialize in two types of pizza which we consider our own, Pan and Deep dish.

PAN PIZZA

Now, right off the bat you'll see that the main difference between the two is that Deep Dish has the sauce on top with the cheese and other toppings beneath it while Pan Pizza is assembled like any other pizza. Even crusts vary. Some Deep Dish pizza's have a yellowish, buttery crust while others have a golden brown, bread like crust.

Of them all, the most unique pizza has to be from Gino's East where a sausage pizza is more of a commitment than a meal. At Gino's the sausage pizza doesnt comes with little nuggest of sausage sprinkled sparingly on top. At Gino's they create a little frisbee of sausage that spreads from one side of the pizza to the other so that there is a mouthful of sausage in each and every bite.

At this point I hope you're as hungry for Pizza as I am. My pan pizza should be here momentarily so I'm gonna go and wait by the door.

Pizza is quite frankly the best food ever created. I had it last night for dinner, and now I kind of want it again, thanks a lot Mikey!

I do have to say I have always enjoyed a "thicker" crust. :D :devilfire: :aok:

I will have to look into this more in great great detail when I visit Chicago. It may take quite abit of in depth research. :D :D

I love a good Pizza! It has to be generous with the toppings but not swimming in too much sauce.

I know it's not really a good quality pizza as such, but I was just wondering what you think of BK's Pizza Burger? We don't have anything like that over here though?

Oddly enough I've never even HEARD of that, F-Bomb. Maybe they're too afraid to market that in Chicago cause they know we'd just laugh at them, lol :D

what exactly do you like on your pizza?

Well if I were to make one myself I would choose A thick base, Scone like, Just a few millimeters of Tomato sauce, with the right herbs. A mix of Mozzarella and Cheddar cheese, Onions, mushrooms, Bacon (or ham) and sliced Irish pork Sausage and cherry tomatoes.

Probably! As far as I remember it was limited to Times Square branch of the franchise.

Incidentally...

I work in the plant that produces Goodfella's, la Bottega, Takeaway and Gigantic pizzas for Green Isle foods.

I can assure you they don't look ANYTHING like the ones pictured above...

Well you can get the moz and cheddar easily enough here, the onions, mushrooms and bacon (canadian or regular?) bt the Irish pork sausage is gonna be a stretch even in the Irish neighborhoods, lol.

Something like this ok?

Or this?

Most frozen pizza's don't. I have yet to find a good frozen pizza. In fact, living where I live, the best pizza I can find still sucks, lol... for some reason out where I live everyone seems to think if it doesnt WREAK of garlic it's bland. Garlic, incidentally, gives me the shits like you'd never believe. Its like someone shoved a garden hose up my ass and turned on the spiggot. The pizza I got last night was no exception... fuggers.

Those are pretty much your standard fair around here so getting a pizza you'd like should be about as easy as dialing a phone, lol :D

Holy smokes, Mikey! You keep posting those pizza pics and I'm gonna freakout like no breakfast cereal creature known to man. It's gonna be somewhere between Honeycomb, Cocoa Puffs, Trix, and Frosted Lucky Charms. Maybe even with some Chester Cheetah/Cheetos thrown in but even he's probably even a little too composed for the situation.
