Post The Hunger Games
I have finished the First book and more than half way through the second book! A Brilliant Read! I know the film of the first book is coming out this year, but after reading the book, I know that the film won't do it justice! So if you can, read the book first!

The Hunger Games takes place after the destruction of North America by some unknown apocalyptic event, in a nation known as Panem. Panem consists of a wealthy Capitol and twelve surrounding, poorer districts. District 12, where the book begins, is located in the coal-rich region that was formerly Appalachia.

As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol in which a 13th district was destroyed, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected by annual lottery to participate in the Hunger Games, an event in which the participants (or "tributes") must fight in an outdoor arena controlled by the Capitol, until only one remains. The story follows 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12 who volunteers for the 74th annual Hunger Games in place of her younger sister, Primrose.

Thanks for rubbing my face in the fact that I can't read! :nono:

I've heard from quite a few that the movie is quite good and actually for once stays rather true to the book. I may have to give both a go.

The Movie was more of a recap. It flew on to each scene too quickly and left so much out. It didn't give time to get to know the characters either. Maybe it would have been better as a mini series. Katness was too hollywoodised as well. The cat was the wrong colour. How hard is it to get a Ginger cat? :rasberry:
